Nieuwe Gracht, Utrecht

On the Nieuwegracht in Utrecht there are two houses called “De aardkloot” (The Globe). According to the archives it appeared there once had been a wooden statue of Atlas.

After consideration of costs, endurance and esthetics, a newly designed bronze statue of Atlas, carrying a polyester globe, was chosen.
To do justice to the wooden original we chose to paint the statue white.
